Neon = Happiness

shirt- kohls, skirt- thrifted, flats- payless, watch- sister's, glasses- ray ban's

I really wasn't in a picture taking mood today, but my we snapped a few for here anyway.  This skirt is actually on of my favorite dresses, I love the bright polka-dots!
Yes, the glasses are real.  I have terrible vision.  But I figured cute glasses can make up for that, right?
Today was just school.  I found out I'm working Friday and Saturday all by myself.  Whoopee.  I was also offered a spot on the tech team at my church, which I'm considering.  Nothing else really to share.

Pictures by my boyfriend, thanks love!

Amongst the Wildflowers

dress:bloom, blouse: thrifted, wedges: kohls, belt: came with another dress, necklace: mom's

Yesterday I was able to go down to Tallahassee and do some more vintage shopping.  This time though, my boyfriend and I brought along one of my best friends because he was dying to see the stores I've been raving about.  He of course loved them, because he has awesome taste.
Both my friend and I scored while shopping: he bought a sake set and a black vest necessary to one of his cosplays, and I found a bright sweater, a high-waisted skirt, and a printed dress/shirt.
We ended the day by going to NuBerri, and getting frozen yogurt.  I love frozen yogurt, especially the triple chocolate with marshmallows, whipped cream, and strawberries. Yum!

Crafterday: Vinyl Edition

CRAFTERDAY:
(n) A day in which crafts are discovered and discussed, usually occuring on Saturdays.

Today is Crafterday!  This is a day in which I'll either share with you some DIY's and crafts that I've found and love, or a project of my own.  Today's theme is vintage LP records.  I just love the look of them, and there's so much you can do!

Here Oh Happy Day shows how to make a cake display out of records, and here she makes some adorable bunting out of the sleeves!

What to do with those covers? How about make some rockin' wall art out of them?  A Beautiful Mess shows how to do that here.

Floral is just another neutral..

Shirt, black necklace- sister's, skirt- Bloom, rose necklace- mother's, sandals- kohls

This week was the beginning of school in my area, and my first week at college.  It's weird being at the college campus because I am only a senior in high school.  The best thing about being on the college campus is the fact that there is no dress code, so I've been wearing everything that's not allowed at my high school.  Dresses more than three inches above my knee, open back shirts, tank tops, crop tops, you name it and I've been wearing it.  Having this creative freedom with my clothing and style makes getting dressed every morning much more enjoyable.
While I'm on the topic of dress code I think I'll share my two cents.  I feel that restricting a student's choice in what he or she wears is wrong.  Stdents should have the opportunity to create their own style and express themselves on the canvas that is one's body.  Dress codes stifle individuality and creativity in the people who will grow up to shape the world.
I feel strongly about this, but what really ruffles my feathers is when a dress code is only applied to certain people.  I've  been on the wrong end of this favoritism stick, and I know how it feels to be discriminated against.  I don't say this for sympathy, I say it to make a point.  I am a tall, thin girl who doesn't play sports, nor am I involved in many school functions.  I'm quiet, I do my work, and I don't get in trouble.  If I wear a tank top to my high school I get sent home to change; however, if a cheerleader or a junkie wears just a cami no punishment is delivered.  Faculty just look the other way because they are afraid to punish a popular student, or because the student gets in trouble all the time and reprimands do nothing.
When I wear a dress that's within three inches of my knee (our school dress code) I am sent up to the office to have it checked.  If I wear heels at the same time than I am sent even quicker.  Some how though, our cheerleaders were able to get uniforms that were nothing more than booty shorts and midriff exposing tank tops.  I've also seen many other girls, usually loud rebellious trouble children, wear shorter skirts and shorts, and get away with it easily.
This dress code discrimination is something that has bothered me throughout high school.  Every day it felt like I was being told I couldn't dress creatively and unique, while other girls could dress like skanks if they wanted.  It is something I definitely want to work on getting changed.

I'm on a plane to nowhere...

skirt- Forever 21, dress- can't remember, necklace- mom's, bracelet- market in Nepal, hat- Claires, sandals- Kohls

Today was relaxed; went to Tallahassee to get my brother and sister's birthday presents, got a massage, went to work, then just chilled with the boyfriend at home.
We had no trouble getting my brother's present; he needed a new drumhead because the drummer in his band busted the old one.  My younger sister was a bit more difficult to shop for.  We (as in my boyfriend and I) ended up buying her a wrap skirt from a local designer.  We got it one of the most legit stores in Tallahassee:  The Other Side Vintage.  They have all sorts of crazy things, from vintage to local work.  And it's in one of the most interesting areas in town.  Definitely geared toward all the FSU and FAMU college hipster kids.
Anyways, I can't wait to give them their presents.  My brother's party is tomorrow, and the sister's is Sunday.  I have a very busy weekend ahead of me.

Splash Down!

dress- Forever 21, cardigan- Forever 21, shoes- Kohls, necklace- my mom's, sunnies- Ron Jon's, bracelet- street vendor in Nepal

Yesterday my friends and I had to run up to the college and take care of books and other things before school starts Monday, so we decided just to spend the day in Marianna.  We ate at Waffle House, where my boyfriend got an amazing looking bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit (pictured above).  Then we just walked around town to see what we could find.  There was a thrift store close by, and I got some amazing fabric, a edgy looking glass container that will probably find its way into my kitchen, and a cute little children's book from the 40s'.
We also found this amazing wall, which just screamed to be a photo backdrop.  I couldn't resist, and it will definitely become a favorite photo spot.  And my boyfriend got to skate some while we snapped a few pictures, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Before heading home we made one last discovery:  the splash pad.  You step on a sensor and it turns the water jets in the ground on for a few minutes.  I felt like such a little kid again playing in the water!  Definitely a great way to end the day.

Neopolitan Deliciousness

I love these shoes

I was just browsing Modcloth when I saw these shoes, and I fell in love.  I am seriously craving these, they are adorable.  And I just couldn't help but make up an outfit to wear with them.  This is definitely something you would see me in this fall; I love stripes and the oversizedness (is that a word? It is now) of the top, and pleated shorts are my weakness.  Plus, who wouldn't love such cute accessories?

Nothing.

This is just to test stuff.  I have nothing to say. Yet.  Soon though, everyone will be able to see my awesomeness, and I will be loved by many.  But until that point, just ignore me. It's all cool.

Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala.  Don't I have a beautiful voice?

Lovely.
