Shifting into Neutrals

Me: tee- charlotte russe, skirt- thrifted, scarf- Modcloth, knee high socks- forever21, boots- can't remember, glasses- Ray Ban's, bracelet- Nepali vendor
Him: Spain World Cup Soccer Jersey- Amazon, bracelets- my hair tie and a beaded bracelet from my boot camp at the beginning of summer

Yesterday was my boyfriend's birthday, but due to school craziness we didn't get to celebrate it until today.  We drove up to Tallahasse and watched the Lion King 3D (cause we're little kids at heart), did a little thrifting, then came back to my place.  We then went out with my whole family to the restuarant of his choosing for supper, which was Waffle House.  Needless to say, that turned out ...interesting.  But it was great having a full day together to just do what we wanted, since neither of us had work today.

P.S. My scarf has giraffes on it.  I freakin' love giraffes.

He's just too darn cute!

More Than Just..

Dress: Forever21, Shirt: Kohls, Belt: my Mom's, Necklace: Claires

Have I mentioned how much I absolutely love this dress?  Super comfy, light and airy, and very versatile.  Perfect for stupid Florida weather.
I've been so caught up in school for the past week, I haven't be able to really do much.  Saturday I drove down to Tallahassee and went vintage shopping for a little while after work.  I finally found a pair of high waisted jean shorts I like (You'll see them tomorrow!).
I don't have work for the rest of the week, so hopefully I'll be able to get out and do something.

Hot or Cold

Top: Forever21, pants: Kohls, shoes: Payless, hair clip: Claires

Busy busy busy, I'm always going going going.  We took some outfit shots on campus today, because we didn't have time to leave before my night class.  Oh, and I am having a not-so-secret love affair with this sweater.  I love the pattern, and the crocheted open back makes it perfect for the warmer Florida temperatures.
Speaking of crocheting, I started up again.  It's been so long since I brought out the hook and yarn, I had to completely re-teach myself.  But I've gotten the swing of it again, and hopefully by this Crafterday I'll have something handmade of my own to share with you.
Time for me to hit the hay.  Let's hope for some slightly cooler weather tomorrow, 80's and 90's just aren't cutting it.  Fall, where are you?

Six Rules for a Better Shopping Day

When I go shopping I have some strict rules when I comes to what I wear.  They help make the dressing room process go by a lot quicker, which keep everyone (especially my impatient brother) happy.

Rule One: Wear a simple, neutral shirt.
This lets what you're trying on be the focus, and you know it'll match no matter what.  I wore my blue over-sized Oxford button-up today.

Rule Two: Always wear a camisole.
Sheer is in right now, but my family is super conservative and would be horrified if I hopped on that bandwagon.  So my neutral colored camisole lets me wear the cute sheer shirts that fill every store window without exposing too much skin.

Rule Three: Wear neutral, easy to put on bottoms.
I can't remember how many times I've worn my tightest skinny jeans while shopping, and it took up so much time taking them off and putting them back on in the dressing room.  Today I wore my Volcom cream skinny pants.  They look great with everything, and they really aren't hard to put on or take off at all!

Rule Four: Bring a belt.
It just comes in handy, to had definition to a voluminous top or dress or to just hold your pants up.

Rule Five: Wear comfortable, slip-on shoes.
Don't get me wrong, I love my heels.  But when I have to take 5 minutes to find a place to sit down and undo every buckle, and then carry them around everywhere, it just doesn't work.  Thus, my flats become my shopping shoes.  I can just slide them off and stick them in my bag until I'm done.

Rule Six: Keep your hair simple.
Constantly changing can ruin a cute hair-do in no time.  A simple ponytail or just wearing your hair down is the best way to go.

So those are my six rules for a easy shopping day.  What are some tips that you use?

Happy Moments

Sorry I've been absent for the last week or so, life just got really busy.  Plus the allergies I developed after returning home from overseas flared up horribly, and I don't really think you wanna see that.  But here are a few more things that just made me happy in this past hectic week.

I love this necklace, and it only cost me 3 dollars!

This is one of my latest vintage/thrift finds.  It's a cute little crop top, and I'm in love with the rainbow colored hearts.

My precious kitty, he always makes me happy!

vintage FOLK FLORL satin clutch.

This bag is incredible, I love the detail work!

Designer Crush of the Moment

Images via stylewithbenefits.com

While browsing through some of my favorite online shops, I stumbled upon this gorgeous Aussie label.  The brand is called My Pet sQuare, and I have fallen in love.  These are only a few pieces from their spectacular fall collection.  Every piece is beautiful in its own way, whether it is simple or intricate.  Oh, and if you wanna take some time to skim through their previous collections as well, the Spring 2011 one is to die for.  The label seems to love neutrals and pastels, which is always a sweet combination!

Brighten the Day

dress: Modcloth, tights: old, boots: can't remember

So I have some exciting news to share: *drumroll* It's finally reached below 90 degrees here!  Crazy, right? Today it was in the high seventies, low eighties all day, and I had to wear a jacket at night.  I wore a jacket! And tights!  So many different styling possiblities are open now!
Speaking of that, I cleaned out my closet this weekend.  More than forty articles of clothing are gone, most of them given to my little sister.  It was all nice stuff, I just never wore it.  And she'll get tons of use out of most of it, I'm sure.
Today was just school, I had my first chemistry test.  I have a terrible science education background, but I have to do well in these courses, so wish me luck!

One year ago today..

To my Love,

I can't believe that it's already been one year.  It feels like we just started dating yesterday, and like we've been together forever, all in one.  You've always been there for me, and I try to be there for you.  No one has ever understood me and loved me anyways, except you.  Somehow through all my stubbornness, pride, selfishness, rebellion, and anger you see someone worth loving.  I could never explain to you just how much you mean to me.  You are the reason I'm here, I only want to please you.  And even with all my faults and misgivings, I seem able to do so.  I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you.  You are my one and only, my true love.  I love you with all my heart!

Love,
Your Punkie

Music Monday: Rilo Kiley

Love this girl's voice, it's so different!  And after hearing nothing but hardcore screaming for the past few days, it's nice to hear something new.  Don't get me wrong I love my hardcore bands, but this is my chill music right here.
